The community of Norcross rallies around Summerour Middle School and contributes $2800 to the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation to support  local school initiatives. The contribution was generated from the Corners To Crossing 10K and Music Festival held in April.

At the February 6, 2008 Leadership Development meeting the executive committee of the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Inc. awarded middle and high school principals for their hard work and commitment. Each high school principal received a check to cover the cost of ten Advanced Placement scholarships to increase student participation in the Advanced Placement program. The funds were made available from a Wachovia grant to help increase the completion rate of high school students. Middle schools principals received a gift certificates for Physical Science Lab-Quest kits, which will enrich the middle school science programs. A contribution from the George A. Ramlose Foundation, and T & S Partnership made the science program awards possible.

Other schools received “seed money” to enhance their academic programs including Give Centers East and West, Maxwell High School of Technology, Grayson Technical School, and Phoenix High School. In November, the Foundation partnered with Autism Speaks to provide the Autism Acceptance book and teacher guides to all elementary school libraries.

In an announcement by David Seago, the President of the Foundation school district leaders also learned that the Foundation’s Trustees committed to raising $11 million dollars over the next five years for initiatives that the school system’s budget is not able to fund. One of these initiatives is the establishment of an Employee Care Fund. The fund will be in place to assist employees in time of crisis. The establishment of such a fund will be another way to recruit and retain quality employees to Gwinnett County Public Schools.

On February 12, 2007 the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Inc. (GCPSF) received a $50,000 grant from the Wachovia Foundation to help Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) increase Advanced Placement opportunities for students.

On October 11, 2007 at the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) annual luncheon, Ms. Terri Jondahl of CAB Inc. presented the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Inc. (GCPSF) with a check for $2,500 to initiate a scholarship for DECA students. This scholarship will help fund the involvement of Gwinnett DECA students in regional, state, and international competitions.

New Partnership Is Formed between Verizon and GCPSF: Verizon Regional Director of External Affairs, Julie C. Smith and Senior Vice President of Southern Region Michelle A. Robinson met with Executive Director, Dr. Alexis Kirijan. Treasurer, Rick Cost and Trustees, Woody Woodruff, Aaron Lupuloff, and Warren Mc Clellan to discuss the newly formed partnership. A check for $10,000 was presented by Verizon to support the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology.
